The problem
A child's diabetes data lives in meters, notebooks, school offices and clinic systems that never talk to each other. Care is a team sport — parents, school nurses and doctors — but the tools are single-player. Everyone works from a partial picture, and long-term control is hard to see.
What I built
A multi-platform pediatric diabetes platform — mobile app, clinician portal and admin portal — built around a consent-driven shared record.
- Consent-based care teamEach patient explicitly invites their doctor, nurse or guardian; access is role-aware and revocable.
- Dexcom CGM integrationContinuous glucose readings sync in automatically.
- Eleven trackers + analyticsGlucose, insulin, food, HbA1c, water, sleep, weight, height, period, illness and medication, with time-in-range and trend cards.
- Bolus calculatorDose guidance from the child’s own ratios and targets.
- Clinician and admin portalsPatient lists, reviews and a content CMS for the care team.
- Bilingual, LTR and RTLEnglish and Arabic across mobile and web.
How it is built
Three apps — a Node/Express API, an Expo mobile app and a Next.js web app — all serving one consent-driven data model.
- The access model is the product — Every relationship between a patient and a caregiver is explicit, role-aware and revocable.
- Three apps, one API — The same Express API serves the mobile app, the clinician portal and the admin portal.
- Jobs and notifications — Redis and BullMQ run sync and reminder jobs; Firebase handles push.
